Depart from one of our gateway cities (or use your own air and receive an air credit) and arrive in New Orleans at Louis Armstrong International Airport. Meet your HTT guides and be transferred via private deluxe motorcoach to your home for the next 5 nights, the Omni Royal Orleans. Perfectly situated to enjoy all that the historic French Quarter has to offer, we absolutely love this hotel. From the famous Rib Room restaurant, to the tranquil rooftop terrace pool and bar (with incredible city views) everything the Omni does is first class.
After check-in, relax by the pool or explore the exciting French Quarter. This evening, join your fellow travelers for our exclusive Crescent City night out. We'll sip cocktails while we enjoy the cool evening breeze on our private French Quarter balcony at the 200-year-old Napoleon House. This historic venue actually was built for Napoleon, though he never made it to New Orleans, you will!
After our hors d'oeuvres and drinks, we'll move into our private dining room where tuxedo-clad wait staff will serve up three courses of fabulous New Orleans inspired cuisine. After dinner, we'll give you a brief presentation on how best to experience the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage festival, as well as insider tips from New Orleans natives and Jazz Fest regulars.
This morning is free for you to spend as you wish. Take a leisurely stroll through the cobble-stone streets and find one of the many brass bands, swing or jazz musicians who make the French Quarter sing; have some beignets at the iconic Cafe Du Monde; window shop for Antiques on Royal street; visit the stunning St. Louis cathedral; or spend some quiet time overlooking the Mississippi river.
This afternoon we'll meet in the hotel lobby for our private guided city tour aboard a deluxe private motorcoach. You’ll see highlights such as: famous sites in the French Quarter; a special visit to a historic cemetery; a tour down lovely St. Charles avenue with its stately homes, beautiful live-oaks and the St. Charles avenue street-car; and much more. As part of our city tour we'll also see the destruction Hurricane Katrina left behind, as well as the revitalization that is taking place. We'll end our memorable tour back at the hotel around dinnertime. Plan ahead and make reservations at one of our hundreds of fabulous restaurants. Give us a call for our personal recommendations.
After dinner, be sure to check out the vibrant world-famous music scene. This is a busy time in New Orleans and every club and music venue will have something special in store. Refer to HTT's “Hit List” for inspiration. Opening day of Jazz Fest is tomorrow - don't forget to get some sleep!
Opening day of Jazz Fest! This morning our private motorcoach will drop you off within easy walking distance of the front gates of the New Orleans Fairgrounds where Jazz Fest is held every year. You'll have tickets to see soul-stirring music on 12 stages and enjoy some of the best food New Orleans has to offer. Don't miss our personal favorites, the Jazz and Heritage Stage for music, and the pulled-pork po-boy for breakfast.
Be sure to explore the craft areas for one-of-a-kind locally-made items, as well as works by regionally and nationally acclaimed artists. Transfer back to the Omni aboard our private motorcoach throughout the day. The festival ends at 7:00 p.m. and your evening is free for more food, music and culture. Step back in time in the French Quarter and enjoy intimate Dixie Land jazz at Preservation Hall, dance to blues and Rock-n-roll at Tipitinas, try something funky uptown at the Maple Leaf, or enjoy some zydeco by local musicians at Mid-City Rock-N-Bowl (while bowling!).
Another fantastic day at the festival is in store for you! We know you couldn't have experienced all the festival has to offer in only one day. Be sure to sample food from the vendors you didn't get to visit the day before. Drop-off and pick-up arrangements are the same as the previous day.
Enjoy an optional day at the festival with transportation aboard the Jazz Fest Express (+ $62), or take part in one of our available optional excursions: an exciting and informative swamp boat tour through the Louisiana bayous...watch out for the crocs! (+ $48); or jump aboard a steamboat for a leisurely Lunch and Jazz Cruise on the mighty Mississippi (+ $35).
Today we will enjoy a very special farewell jazz brunch at the Court of Two Sisters. Share your New Orleans and festival memories while you listen to traditional New Orleans jazz in a lovely courtyard setting. After brunch you'll have a some free time for last minute souvenir shopping before our private motorcoach returns you to the airport for your late afternoon flights home. Everyone will head home with wonderful memories of terrific music, great food, new friends and a longing to return to the Big Easy!
