Depart from your city and arrive in New Orleans at Louis Armstrong International Airport. Check into the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel, perfectly situated to enjoy all that the Historic French Quarter has to offer! This afternoon, meet your fellow travelers in the hotel lobby for our private guided city tour aboard a deluxe private motorcoach including highlights such as: Lovely St. Charles Avenue with it's stately homes, beautiful oak trees and the St. Charles Avenue streetcar, some famous sites in the French Quarter, a special visit to a historic cemetery and much more. As part of our city tour, we'll also visit New Orleans' Ninth Ward, one of the many neighborhoods devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
We will not only see the destruction the storm left behind, but also the revitalization taking place thanks to hard-working residents, numerous volunteers as well as actor Brad Pitt through his Make It Right Foundation. We'll end our tour at Jackson Square where you can stroll Pirates Alley, window shop for antiques on Royal Street or pop into a club for some live jazz.
We’ll meet again this evening for our Welcome Dinner reception at the historic Napoleon House. After dinner there will be a brief lecture on how best to experience the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage festival as well as insider tips from New Orleans natives and Jazz Fest regulars. D
Opening day of Jazz Fest! Our private motorcoach will drop you off within easy walking distance of the front gates of the New Orleans Fairgrounds where Jazz Fest is held every year. You will have tickets to see soul stirring music on 12 stages and enjoy some of the best food New Orleans has to offer including Creole and Cajun favorites.
Don't miss our personal favorite, the crawfish bread! Make sure to explore in the many craft areas for one of a kind locally made items as well as works by regionally and nationally acclaimed artists. Transfer back to the hotel aboard our private motorcoach throughout the day. The evening is yours to enjoy some of the famous local cuisine, music and nightlife.
Huron Tours can assist in making dinner reservations and if you need help selecting a restaurant, we have eaten in almost every restaurant in the city and can make recommendations based on your preferences. After dinner, be sure to check out the vibrant, world-famous live music scene!
There is a venue and musical choice for everyone: step back in time in the French Quarter and enjoy intimate Dixieland Jazz at Preservation Hall, dance to Blues and Rock at Tipitina's, try something funky uptown at The Maple Leaf, or enjoy some good old fashioned Rock 'n' Roll by local musicians at Mid-City Rock-N-Bowl (while bowling)!
Another fantastic day at the Festival is in store for you! Be sure to sample food from the vendors you didn't get to visit the day before. Drop Off and Pickup arrangements are the same as the previous day.
