~ Depart from your hometown for New York City. Manage your own transportation, or let us assist you in arranging air tickets and airport/hotel transfers. Upon arrival in New York, check into one of our great hotels: The 4-star New Yorker which is located just one block from the dog show, has two great on-site restaurants and is where many of the show dogs stay! Or choose the all-studio suite hotel, the Residence Inn Marriott which includes daily breakfast and an evening social buffet on Monday on Tuesday and is located seven blocks from the show.
After you’re settled in, at about 4pm we’ll walk over to watch and enjoy “dog arrival day” at the Hotel Pennsylvania. Just a short walk and a barrel of fun! Or enjoy the sights of the city as you choose… select from The Empire State Building or Rockefeller Center, explore Greenwich Village or the art galleries in SoHo, shop Fifth Avenue, enjoy fabulous Central Park, hit the museums – this city has something for everyone and the professionals at Huron Tours will assist with your New York City plans.
This evening join your fellow Huron Tours travelers for our included welcome cocktail party. Great views await and it’s a wonderful chance to mingle and enjoy some good company complete with hors d'oeuvres and drinks. Afterward, the evening will be free to explore the city, have a light dinner, or catch a Broadway show.
~Today is a special day organized just for Huron Tours' travelers! We’ll start with a city tour on our private, deluxe motorcoach to see some of the best highlights of New York. During our morning guided city tour you’ll see Wall Street, the Twin Towers site, Battery Park, Greenwich Village, Chinatown, Little Italy, Fifth Avenue, Times Square, The Empire State Building, Central Park, and lots more! Before we end our day you’ll enjoy lunch in our favorite New York deli, Katz’s Delicatessen, made famous by the “I’ll have what she’s having” scene from When Harry Met Sally.
We’ll finish our tour in Times Square just in time for the matinée Broadway performances. We can purchase excellent advance tickets for you for Wicked, Mamma Mia, The Jersey Boys, Billy Elliott or any others you may be interested in. Please call early to review availability and prices. ~ Both days are Westminster Show days at Madison Square Garden and we have premium box-seat tickets in the "lower endzone" included for all showings, plus Best in Show on Tuesday evening. (Call for pricing and availability of "sideline" seating.)
Also, included with your package is the official Westminster Program to follow all the competition as well as dog breeder and handler details. Westminster is just as good as you expect it to be and better!
It is a dog-lovers paradise as you can meet the dogs and handlers in the benching area, watch all the dogs being groomed, shop in the huge marketplace at Madison Square Garden, and feel the excitement as more than 2,100 champions compete and the 28 Best of Breeds are selected, whittled down to the 7 Best in Group and then finally only one dog remains! What a treat to see it all.
~ Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and today we depart for home with memories of a most special visit to a city at a very special time.
